Julian Jordan Ends Business Relationship With Spinnin’ Records

One of Spinnin' Records' most promising recent talents, Julian Jordan, has announced that he will discontinue his business relationship with the Dutch record label. In a turn of events that hints vaguely at progressive house icon Martin Garrix's split with the same imprint, the Amsterdam-based talent has opted to follow a course that would afford him more creative liberties.

UPDATE: Within an hour of Jordan’s announcement, Danish DJ/producer Mike Hawkins has announced that he will also end his partnership with Spinnin’ Records.

One of Spinnin’ Records’ most promising recent talents, Julian Jordan, has announced that he will discontinue his business relationship with the Dutch record label. In a turn of events that hints vaguely at progressive house icon Martin Garrix’s split with the same imprint, the Amsterdam-based talent has opted to follow a course that would afford him more creative liberties.

Jordan was signed to Spinnin’ in 2012 with the release of “Rock Steady” at the tender young age of 16 – the same age at which Garrix had been signed. In an official statement, Jordan made the following comments on the split:

The last few months we’ve been trying to sign a new agreement with Spinnin’ Records but unfortunately we couldn’t agree on a new deal. The last couple of weeks we build a new Julian Jordan team which gives me more freedom than before.  it’s time for me to start a new chapter and to continue to take things in my own direction.

Julian Jordan tracks like “Lost Words” and “All Night” proved among the more innovative Spinnin’ releases in 2015, making his absence something of a blow to the label.

Hours before the statement had been issued, Jordan mysteriously uploaded a short, dissonant production to his SoundCloud account:

Spinnin’ Records has yet to issue its own statement on the split with Julian Jordan, but the Dutch label is certain to do so sooner rather than later.
