10 Acts That You Shouldn’t Miss At Tomorrowland 2014

Tomorrowland's 10 year anniversary party begins this weekend in Europe and is slated to be a back-to-back two weekend celebration. Home to one of the best dance music festivals the world has to offer, EDM's biggest DJs will flock to Boom, Belgium to perform on some of the most elaborate stages ever constructed to entertain a crowd of over 180,000. Known for its ability to bring in top-tier talent, Tomorrowland again exceeded expectations for constructing a world-class line-up this year. With so much amazing music surrounding you, sometimes choosing who to see can be a real challenge. In fact, we can guarantee you that if you're attending, you'll find yourself with many scheduling conflicts. Obviously, you're not going to be able to see every artist that plays during the festival. It's impossible. That being said, here are 10 acts that might not be on your radar, but that you definitely shouldn't miss out on. 1) Zeds Dead Their latest EP, Somewhere Else, has renewed my love for electronic music. A multi-genre mix from heavy bass to nu disco, this duo can try their hand at almost any sound and nail it. Everyone enjoyed what they did a few weeks ago at Electric Forest, and seeing them perform overseas at one of the best festivals in the world should be an even bigger treat. 2) Pleasurekraft Owners of the label Kraftek, Pleasurekraft is one of those techno/tech house duos that rarely disappoints for me. They can do great traditional club music, like their track American Hustle, or they can get weird with productions like Carny. No matter what they do, they always deliver a solid vibe and are definitely worth checking out at this year's Tomorrowland. 3) Oliver Heldens In case you haven't heard of him just yet, Oliver Heldens is a 19 year old producer from the Netherlands who is absolutely slaying the deep house game as of late. With productions like Wappy Flirt and mixes like Heldeep Mixtape 3, he continues to show his prowess in the club music genre. I don't know about you, but I would absolutely kill to hear Wappy Flirt live amongst a group of my best friends incased in a fairy tale setting. Heldens is young, fun, different and someone I would absolutely catch at Tomorrowland. 4) Wankelmut Berlin, Germany's Wankelmut roped me in when he did his awesome minimal remix of Asaf Avidan's Reckoning Song / One Day. I love anyone who can do weird well and this guy does just that. Completing his Radio1 Essential mix about a month ago, coupled with Tomorrowland on his docket, I think we'll be seeing this name around more often in the days to come. He's the perfect festival sleeper and I would suggest that you catch him if you can. 5) UMEK One of techno's long-time heavy hitters, UMEK, is definitely a must-see for me at Tomorrowland. 1605 record label owner, fantastic eye for talent, great producer, amazing DJ and someone who's played side by side with other generational greats like Carl Cox are just a few of the reasons that he should be on your list. And if you're still on the fence, killer tracks like Slap and I Need You will seal the deal. Plus, UMEK just kicked off his Summer in Ibiza, so if you're reading this from overseas, you've got plenty of chances to catch him at one of the world's most amazing places for dance music. 6) Sander Van Doorn b2b Yves V Sander Van Doorn is never a bad time, and seeing him live at Tomorrowland would be the perfect background to the kind of vibe he consistently throws down. Plus, hearing him play a b2b set with festival staple veteran Yves V?! Well, that's just too good to be true. Both of these guys know how to get a party moving with a groove that's uniquely their own, so be sure to check out the special treat that they've likely put together for the festival. 7) Carl Cox There's never a reason not to see Carl Cox, as he's ALWAYS a good time. Being a resident stage holder at Tomorrowland, they entrust him to curate an entire stage's three day vibe when it comes to house music and its near-and-dear genres. Someone who's reached his stature in the scene didn't do it by accident, it happened because he knows exactly how to read any crowd in any party across the world. A signature song he plays, Joe Brunning's Now Let Me See You Work, always whips the Tomorrowland crowd into a frenzy. Trust us, you don't want to miss this king while he's in his court. 8) Trippy Turtle A Jersey Club sound that is permeating the American blog scene, Trippy Turtle knows how to do trap/slow swag that will heat up dance floors everywhere. His remix NaNa is a great introductory track and will warm you up for Belgium, where if you catch him, you'll be treated to some of that American club vibe in a European crowd. 9) New World Punx The new collaboration of Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten is a dream come true for any EDM lover. Combining the brains of these two amazing artists has given the world a new sound and a breath of fresh air to trouse (trance and house) lovers everywhere. You won't want to miss the kind of music that this duo is making together, especially on a stage like Tommorowland - where everyone brings their A game. 10) Deorro The new alias of old DJ Ton!c is a huge hit with EDM lovers everywhere, and I can't think of a single reason not to see him. An atmosphere that is always so full of party and productions that will get anyone's feet moving are just two of the main reasons that Deorro should not be missed at this year's Tomorrowland. So, there you have it. Ten artists who might not be on your radar, but who we definitely recommend checking out if you get the chance. Festivals are always a great opportunity for discovering new music, and we hope that those of you attending Tomorrowland will find a lot to like.
