South Carolina woman says she filmed a man pouring what looks like sugar into her gas tank, and this time she got his license plate

Lights, camera, action!

A South Carolina creator recently captured footage of a man appearing to pour a substance that looks like sugar directly into her gas tank. The incident, posted to TikTok by user @tymiahomarye0, quickly caught viewers’ attention, as the man is clearly visible in the video.

The video shows the man in the act, and the creator makes it clear during the recording that she is prepared to document the situation properly. She states, “I’m going to have his license plate this time.” The comment suggests that this is not the first time someone has tampered with her gas tank.

In a later comment, she confirmed the targeted vehicle belongs to her. In the caption, she expressed her desperation, writing, “I don’t know what else to do.” She also included hashtags that reference both harassment and jail. She also posted another video of the same man, just moments before he poured sugar into her gas tank.

People could not believe he did it in broad daylight

Sugar is also denser than gasoline, so it typically sinks to the bottom of the tank rather than dissolving. A mechanic can usually fix the problem by cleaning the tank and replacing the fuel filter. However, the act itself still appears intended to cause harm or distress.

Viewers who watched the video quickly weighed in, with many urging her to take the evidence to the authorities immediately. One commenter wrote, “Send a video to the police immediately you have his face and you have his license plate.” Another person noted that they would contact the police with the license plate number right away.

The timing of the act drew much of the discussion, as the man approached the gas tank in broad daylight. One commenter wrote, “Broad daylight, prints on the cup and car? He wanna go to jail I fear.” Another user added, “The fact that he’d do this in broad daylight is wild.”

Someone else mentioned that this type of activity is usually reserved for the middle of the night, when it is harder to be identified. While some viewers focused on the legal implications, others debated whether pouring sugar into a gas tank actually damages a vehicle. A Bosch engineer told Popular Mechanics the company has never seen an engine destroyed by sugar in a gas tank. Modern fuel systems use several filters that catch sugar crystals before they reach the engine.
