Bride saves her One Direction perfume from age 12 for her wedding. Dad: ‘That bottle stayed together longer than the band did’

She saved the bottle since Christmas 2013.

Isabella Simpson was 12 years old in 2013 when she asked for a bottle of One Direction perfume for Christmas. Earlier this month, the 25-year-old kept a promise to her younger self by wearing it on her wedding day, according to People. The fragrance, Our Moment, was originally a gift from her father, Ron LaScala, and stepmother, Amanda LaScala.

Isabella spent years keeping the pink glass bottle tucked away. However, she often doubted she would hold onto it for this long. She reportedly rediscovered the bottle two years ago while unpacking after moving in with her now-husband, Matthew Simpson, 26. She said she knew right away she would wear the One Direction perfume when the day arrived.

The One Direction perfume is a fruity-floral blend that the band released the same year she received it, around the time the band’s documentary This Is Us hit theaters. Isabella grew up as a huge fan of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik and said she wanted everything and anything from One Direction back then.

Her dad filmed her telling the whole story right before the ceremony

Isabella shared the story with her loved ones just before the ceremony. She recalled relatives questioning whether a 12-year-old really wanted One Direction perfume as her big Christmas gift, and she told them she would wear it at her wedding. “So here I am today, getting married, and I will be wearing [Our] Moment by One Direction.”

Her father recorded the speech and shared it on Instagram the next day. In his caption, Ron LaScala joked, “That bottle stayed together longer than the band did.” One Direction went on hiatus in 2016, though some fans have kept hunting Harry Styles album clues online ever since.

Ron LaScala wrote that the moment “really got to me,” as his daughter appeared all grown up while still carrying a piece of her childhood. He also said he initially worried the One Direction perfume had broken down over time. To his surprise, it allegedly still smelled great, if slightly diluted.

Isabella even said the scent may have improved with age. However, its bigger pull appears to be nostalgia, as it reminded her of her childhood and of how One Direction shaped the woman and wife she is today.

The couple celebrated with a courthouse ceremony and a reception at The Lighthouse Restaurant and Dockbar. The venue reportedly held special meaning, as it was where they had their second date. While Isabella acknowledged that One Direction had her heart first, she said Matthew has it from here.

Her father views the saved bottle as proof of her drive. “She’s stuck true to herself, which I really think is probably the best part of this whole story,” Ron LaScala said. He described her as headstrong and independent, adding that she made a promise to herself at 12 and has driven herself through life.
