British man goes to a US Walmart for the first time in his life. What he finds leaves him stunned: ‘blows my UK mind’

Cultural shock: Walmart edition.

A British man visiting a United States Walmart for the first time has shared his confusion regarding the sheer scale and layout of the store, the Daily Dot reported. The trip, documented by his girlfriend on TikTok, shows the London native navigating the aisles while reacting to everything from the size of the products to the store security measures. The video, posted by @taylaajacksonn, has already racked up more than 540,000 views and nearly 50,000 likes as viewers from the UK weigh in on his overstimulated state.

The experience started right at the entrance when he realized he could just pull a buggy out of the line. He pointed out that in the UK, shoppers typically need to insert a coin deposit to unlock a cart. His girlfriend found that difference interesting, but the real surprises began once they reached the food sections.

He was particularly shocked by the meat aisle, where he held up a nearly foot-long roll of meat against his arm to gauge its size. He questioned what kind of meal would ever require someone to consume all 160 ounces of it.

His confusion continued when they reached the cereal aisle

He seemed completely befuddled by the concept of bagged cereal, holding a bag in his hands as he tried to process the packaging style. He was also vocal about the size of the pizzas, and he wasn’t the only one. Commenters from the UK were quick to agree, with one person noting, “That pizza wouldn’t even fit in a British oven.”

As they moved deeper into the store, the man appeared increasingly overwhelmed. At one point, his girlfriend captured a clip of him pushing the cart, noting that he looked truly overstimulated. He spotted a combined dip and stopped to ask, “Why does it have to be together, all the time?” He expressed genuine frustration over why anyone would prefer a pre-mixed dip instead of keeping the flavors separate.

The security measures at the store also caught his attention. He found it strange that expensive items like televisions and high-end appliances were kept out in the open, while underwear was locked away behind glass casings. Throughout the rest of their trip, he continued to have similar reactions to the various labels, dressings, and drink options lining the shelves.

After they finished gathering their items and checked out, he had one final takeaway from the experience. His parting comment was: ‘Successful trip? The hell do you guys eat?’ Other UK viewers in the comments shared his disbelief, with one user stating, “I’m from the UK, and this is INSANE to me.” Another commenter added, “The sheer size of some of that stuff blows my UK mind…”
