Dillon Francis Isn’t Making An R&B Album

Last week, the EDM blogosphere speculated and reported that Dillon Francis would be releasing an R&B album. As it turns out though, this was nothing but a misunderstanding, as the DJ/producer will not be heading in that direction.

The commotion all started during a recent interview with MTV News, where Dillon named Drake’s “Wednesday Night Interlude” as a source of inspiration, saying that he “listens to it 10 times a day” and “thinks that’s where he wants to take the next album he wants to do.” However, the DJ’s Snapchat story later revealed that this wasn’t what he meant, as he stated:

“I have no idea what I’m doing for my second album, and if anything it’ll sound like my song with Kygo. If any of those blogs actually listened to that song I credited, it sounds like a Flume song.”

Dillon is known for his moombahton roots, but his sound jumps across genres just as much as his personas change. Judging from the success of Money Sucks, Friends Rule – in which he featured some electro, rock and pop crossovers – trying out new things seems to be a forte of his. We don’t doubt the possibility of R&B, hip-hop, or even country elements influencing future releases (as there’s literally no telling what Dillon is going to do next), but for his second album, it’s probably safe to cross off R&B from that list.

Tell us, what do you think about Dillon Francis’ music potentially heading in a new direction (even if it’s not solely R&B)? Let us know in the comments section below.
