Texas Roadhouse serves several kinds of steak, including filet mignon. However, TikToker Kenneth Card (@kennethcard3) took to the social media app to call out a Texas Roadhouse branch in Forsyth, Illinois, claiming he was served sirloin instead of filet mignon.
As he spoke to the camera about his steak dinner, on-screen text read: “Texas Roadhouse, shame on you.” Card alleged that he bought a $30 Texas Roadhouse meal that features an eight-ounce filet mignon. However, he was baffled when he alleged that the server brought out sirloin instead. According to Card, he told the server the steak was wrong, and they said they would return to the kitchen for a second opinion.
The server then returned and confirmed it was sirloin. Card further claimed he went to the restaurant once a week for a year, and the servers had brought the wrong steak three times.
The guy claims he knows all cuts of steak
Card stated in the video that he knows different kinds of steak and what comes with his order. “Cut them, cook them, you name it, I’ve done it. I know the difference between a ribeye, a filet, a T-bone, New York strip, all that crap. I know it. I used to cut it, cook it. And so whenever I go out to eat, I know what I get,” he said.

According to the TikToker, he escalated the issue to the manager. He claims the manager questioned how a mix-up could happen given their kitchen verification process. Card concluded the video by urging viewers to double-check their orders to ensure they receive the specific cut or meal they paid for. Texas Roadhouse has not responded to the video’s claim as of this writing.
Card’s post received mixed reception in the comments, with one side sympathetic to the creator. “Eating in this part of the country is becoming more and more terrifying,” one wrote. “They were hoping you didn’t notice!” another added.
On the other hand, some users didn’t buy Card’s allegations about Texas Roadhouse. “I’ve never had an issue with Texas Roadhouse,” one claimed. “Why are you going to Texas Roadhouse for a filet mignon? I’m sure there must be some restaurant in your area that is a better steakhouse or better quality if you’re gonna spend $30,” another responded.
Which now begs the question: what’s the difference between filet mignon and sirloin? Miller and Carter Steakhouse explained that filet mignon comes from the tenderloin muscle along a cow’s spine. Meat from this area is usually exceptionally lean and tender. It also tends to be smaller than other steak cuts and has a fairly slim meat-to-fat ratio, according to Living The Gourmet.
Meanwhile, the blog reports that sirloin steak comes from the sirloin primal. Although this cut also comes from the rear of the cow, it sits more in the midsection. Because this area has a lot more muscle and bears significantly more weight, the meat has a much stronger flavor. It also has a much higher meat-to-fat ratio, is less tender, and is generally much larger.
