Porsha Williams’ ex-husband threatens to drag her to the Supreme Court, accuses her of luring him into getting married

Love conquers all.

Simon Guobadia, the ex-husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, says he “absolutely” regrets their short marriage. The 61-year-old businessman from Nigeria believes Williams targeted him for money from the very beginning of their relationship.

According to Page Six, Williams filed for divorce in February 2024 after just 14 months of marriage. The reality star recently opened up about having to ‘fight for her life’ in what she called a ‘nightmare’ divorce, revealing the emotional toll of the split. She told reporters earlier this week that she hired an immigration lawyer in January 2024 after finding out about problems with Guobadia’s legal status in the United States. She said she felt their relationship was going in a bad direction.

Guobadia claims he was completely surprised by the divorce filing. He says Williams never talked to him about any problems before she decided to end their marriage. “I think I was targeted from day one for financial reasons,” Guobadia said in a recent interview. He believes Williams planned to marry him for his money and then leave him.

Court rules in Williams’ favor after quick divorce

A judge recently made the final decision about their divorce. Williams won the case, and the court decided to follow the rules set in their prenuptial agreement. Like many celebrity couples, having a prenup proved crucial in determining the financial outcome of their split. This means Williams will get significant financial support from her ex-husband.

Under the court’s ruling, Williams will receive $40,000 every month for 14 months, which adds up to $560,000 total. She also gets to live in their Atlanta home for up to three years with all expenses paid, including the mortgage. If she wants to own the house completely, she would need to get a new loan in her name and give Guobadia half of the home’s value.

Guobadia is not happy with the judge’s decision. He says he will appeal the ruling with “1,000%” certainty. He plans to challenge the decision in higher courts and says he will take the case “all the way to the Supreme Court” if needed. This would be unusual, as most divorce cases do not reach the nation’s highest court.

Guobadia was recently deported to Nigeria because of immigration violations, including bank and credit card fraud. He spent four months in an immigration detention center before being sent back to his home country. The divorce was finalized less than a week after he arrived in Nigeria.

The businessman admits he moved too fast in the relationship. He says getting engaged to Williams after just 30 days was a mistake. “I was out of my goddamn mind to have done that,” he said, adding that he is now paying a high price for his quick decision.

Williams has a 6-year-old daughter named PJ, but Guobadia says he does not have a relationship with the child. He explained that he chooses not to get close to his partners’ children because they might use the kids to try to get back together with him later.
