The Mandalorian‘s main cast is primarily composed of people who never remove their helmets and a puppet, though despite that handicap they all manage to emote very clearly. Grogu in particular is hugely expressive, with his facial expressions clearly showing what he’s feeling at any given time.

But this week’s episode may have seen him speak his first words and, if we’re hearing it right, they’re going to melt Din Djarin’s heart. Early in the episode Din, Bo-Katan and Grogu were all travelling together on Bo’s ship, with the two Mandalorians concurring that “This is the Way”.

Then, from the back of the ship, Grogu sounds like he’s joining in:

Grogu has been taking cues from his Mandalorian Daddy ever since the pair first met, and previous episodes have shown that the creed is definitely rubbing off on him. Whether these are actually his first words or not is up for debate, though many fans are certain he was at least trying to say “This is the way”.

And Din’s heart grew three sizes that day…

Can we expect the little guy to begin monologuing soon?

The future Mandalore is almost certainly on this ship, but could it be Grogu after all?

The only worry is that we like Grogu as he is and we don’t necessarily want to change the chemistry between him and Din. That said, even little Grogu has to grow up at some point and we see this as a major milestone in his development. In addition, Dave Filoni has teased this coming, recently saying to Entertainment Tonight:

“We don’t know that he’s not talking in his own way, and, obviously, he can communicate with Ahsoka where she can at least divine from him some communication.”

After this, we wonder what else he’s going to be coming out with in future episodes…

The Mandalorian airs Wednesdays on Disney Plus.
