7 more reasons the world can never forget what’s really happening in Ukraine

Every reason is important.

The war in Ukraine is still causing terrible suffering, with Russia constantly launching air attacks that show just how brutal and unending this conflict is.

In recent weeks, Russia has increased its bombings of Ukrainian cities, using a strategy meant to overpower Ukraine’s defenses. This surge in attacks is a clear sign that the danger is still very real, and Ukrainian forces are struggling against Russia’s deliberate tactic of launching large-scale strikes.

One of the most recent attacks involved 352 Russian drones and 16 missiles hitting Ukrainian land, with most aimed at the Kyiv region. Early Monday morning, people in Kyiv had to rush to shelters as drones buzzed overhead and explosions shook the ground. In the capital, a high-rise building was left in flames, with shocked residents being pulled from the wreckage.

According to Reuters, at least seven were killed in these attacks. This shows that Ukrainian air defenses are facing serious challenges keeping missiles from hitting vital areas. Russia’s strategy is to send huge waves of missiles, drones, and decoys all at once, designed to overwhelm Ukraine’s defenses. As reported by BBC, this tactic has made it very hard for Ukrainian forces to stop every attack, as the sheer number and variety of threats push their systems to the limit.

Ukraine is still facing missiles from Russia

The struggle to defend against these massive barrages shows a major weakness that Russia keeps exploiting, putting extreme pressure on Ukraine’s ability to protect itself and forcing its military into a constant, exhausting fight. The attacks reach far beyond Kyiv, with deadly consequences. In Bila Tserkva, a city south of Kyiv, a drone strike reportedly killed one person after hitting a hospital. This proves that the air strikes are not just targeting big cities but are spreading destruction across wider areas, putting critical infrastructure like hospitals at risk.

The widespread nature of these attacks shows Russia’s clear strategy of causing damage and chaos in multiple populated regions. In response to Russia’s increased aggression, Ukrainian forces have vowed to step up their own strikes against Russia. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky told reporters in Kyiv that Ukraine will not stay on the defensive. He explained that a defensive-only approach leads nowhere, just retreats, lost lives, and lost land.

The Monday attack on Kyiv came just days after another major Russian assault the previous Tuesday. That earlier strike was one of the biggest in the capital since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022, killing at least 28 people and injuring over 100. The fact that two such large attacks happened so close together shows a pattern of relentless, heavy strikes on Kyiv, proving that the capital and its people remain under serious threat.
