A woman said she walked out of her job after one morning email listed problems she claims she had never heard about before. Erin, who posts on TikTok as @erins2ndchapter, explained in a video that has gained over a hundred thousand views that she just quit after receiving the message.
She said the email told her a thousand things she does wrong at the job she put her heart and soul into. Sitting in her car, she described how she could not keep going after the criticism arrived.
In the caption, she wrote that she had been there two years and sees her boss every single day, yet all the issues came in an email. She claimed the problems had apparently been going on for months, but this was the first she was hearing about any of it.
Erin describes the email and her decision to leave the activity director role
She said one of the things listed was that she isolates herself. She suggested it might just be that she protects her joy from a grumpy coworker, adding that it is not isolation and that she had tried to kill the person with kindness without success.
Erin explained that she hopes she is making the right decision and that everything will be okay. She said she told her boss that after her divorce she decided to stop chasing appreciation and that she knows where she is not wanted.
She claimed she has felt unwanted for a while. She paraphrased the email as telling her she is not very good at her job and giving a list of things to improve, then stated she just could not do it anymore. Feeling unappreciated at work is common, like when an employee was denied promotion and then asked to train a graduate.
Erin said she loves the residents and wants to keep bringing joy into their lives each day, but she cannot do it in that environment. She declared, “So I quit. I packed up my s–t and I walked the f–k out.”
She added that she will now focus on making her UGC content creation journey something sustainable that makes her money. Pointing at the camera, she said, “So you’ll be seeing me. You will be seeing me.”
She asked viewers for encouragement and stories about walking out on a job that later worked out. She said if anybody could comment and reassure her she did the right thing, that would make her feel a lot better.
She then said, “Yes, let the new adventure begin. Activity director no more. It’s sad, but also life is too short.” She closed by telling viewers she loves them. Leaving a job can even shift the balance of power, as when a fired worker’s former boss emailed asking for help.
Many commenters offered support and shared similar experiences. One viewer wrote, “If it was draining your life force, you did the right thing.” Another stressed that nothing is worth their peace and praised her for leaving.
A person who recently quit their own RN job explained they needed to protect their peace after their mental health was suffering. They wrote that they were sick of the gaslighting and keep telling themselves everything will work out. One commenter shared, “I walked out on 2 jobs where I was emotionally and mentally dying…. live IS too short.”
