Trump threatens to bar Canadian company Bombardier from selling planes in the U.S. But the company employs 500+ workers in Kansas

President Donald Trump said Monday that Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier should be stopped from selling planes in the United States. He posted the warning on Truth Social.

Trump wrote, “NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough! Over 50% of their revenue comes from the United States – They live off American Buyers, American Companies, American Airports, and American Service – All while Canada blocks our GREAT American Banks, and Companies, throughout the U.S.A. They even blocked Gulfstream Aerospace from doing business in Canada – Completely unjust and unfair! “

Bombardier’s Kansas operations and American suppliers

Tyson Brody, who works in communications for Kansas Democratic Senate candidate Adam Hamilton’s campaign, said on X that Bombardier’s U.S. headquarters is in Wichita, the largest city in Kansas, and has 500+ employees. He tagged Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS), who is running against Hamilton in November.

Bloomberg reported Monday that Bombardier has more than 2,800 U.S.-based suppliers in 47 states. Jennifer A. Dlouhy wrote that a Trump administration move against Bombardier could have consequences for American manufacturers that make up its supply chain.

Mediaite points out that trade talks between the United States and Canada collapsed in recent weeks, the article stated. The Trump administration then imposed 50% tariffs on roughly $20 billion worth of Canadian goods.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced retaliatory tariffs after those measures. Trump has also used sharp language and symbolic steps aimed at Canada.

Trump’s proposals have extended beyond trade, such as when he signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America. He stated that over 50% of Bombardier’s revenue comes from the United States.
