Miami woman discovers her new boyfriend is cheating on her. So, she allegedly decides to blackmail him for $20,000

A 19-year-old Miami woman, Nathalie Rodriguez Gonzalez, was arrested and charged with threats and extortion after allegedly demanding $20,000 from her boyfriend upon discovering he was in another relationship.

According to Where Is The Buzz, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office report revealed that Gonzalez and the victim met while she was working as a waitress at a local restaurant. Romance blossomed rather quickly, and the two soon established themselves as a couple — or so it seemed.

The honeymoon phase was remarkably short-lived. After just several dates, Gonzalez allegedly uncovered a major deception that shattered the relationship: The man apparently already had an established relationship with another woman.

Furious at the revelation of his infidelity, Gonzalez allegedly launched an aggressive extortion campaign through text messages. Rather than seeking an apology, she demanded a lump sum of $20,000 to keep his secrets safe. To force him to comply, she laid out a strict, escalating ultimatum designed to ruin both his personal life and professional standing.

If he refused to pay the initial demand, she threatened to increase the required payout by $5,000 for his delay. She also threatened to send intimate photographs of their private moments directly to his girlfriend and professional business partner. She allegedly said she would post the explicit content across her public social media profiles to maximize his embarrassment.

When the victim refused to pay, Gonzalez began carrying out her threats. She sent an intimate photo to his business partner and contacted the victim to demand his girlfriend’s phone number. Text records show she taunted him with messages like, “Should I post this on my IG and tag everyone??”

She eventually located the girlfriend, forwarded the image and warned her, “This will genuinely get posted if he doesn’t wire money BTW.” She then took things a step further by uploading censored versions of the images to her public TikTok account to pressure him further.

As the victim continued to resist, her tactics became more severe. According to the police report, Gonzalez threatened to have the man deported if he did not wire the money. More damaging to her case, investigators uncovered a separate message thread in which she allegedly stated that she had always intended to scam him and was simply carrying out a plan.

After realizing the threats were not going to stop, the victim sought help from the Kendall District Station of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 24. It didn’t take long before deputies were knocking on Gonzalez’s door.

In Florida, extortion is classified as a second-degree felony, carrying a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison and heavy fines. The law treats demanding money through threats of exposing secrets or distributing private images as criminal extortion, separate from the relationship drama that allegedly sparked it.

Gonzalez is currently being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she remains detained on a $7,500 bond.
