The 10 Best Superhero TV Moments Of 2016

Superhero movies might have received a mixed reception in 2016, but comic book television has never been better. Both Marvel and DC expanded their respective shared universes outwards this past year and in just about every case, superhero TV shows reached a good balance between pilfering from the comic books and adapting the material to best fit the new medium. Series like Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl finally found their feet, others like Arrow got back on track and those like The Flash and Daredevil continued their winning streaks.

4) Stairwell Fight Scene – Daredevil

Daredevil set a new standard of superhero TV fight scenes in its critically-acclaimed debut season. In particular, the much-discussed corridor smack-down scene from episode two really stood out. The second season had its work cut out for it then trying to create a scene that would top it. But it actually managed it in episode three’s legitimately epic stairwell fight sequence.

After escaping the Punisher’s clutches, Daredevil – wrapped in chains and with a gun forcibly strapped to his hand – takes on a whole biker clan single-handedly down a large stairwell in a vicious five-minute long sequence that’s impressively done in (almost) a single shot.

Much like the warehouse sequence from Batman V Superman, this is a brutal, wince-inducing fight scene which shows just how lethal – or very nearly – our hero can be. Even while exhausted and with chains tied around him, Daredevil is one hellish fighter.
