As the first of Marvel's Netflix series, all eyes are on Daredevil to see if it can deliver or not, especially after the failed film attempt back in 2003. Taking the character back to his dark roots, the series looks to explore a more grounded version of the Man Without Fear, one which will be rooted in the noirish criminal underbelly of New York City, specifically the corrupt Hell’s Kitchen area, painting a grittier picture than we’ve ever seen from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Inspired by the classic novel Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dr. Calvin Zabo created a chemical formula that transformed him into a super-strong villain with no regard for the law. Mister Hyde has fought a number of Marvel heroes over the years, but most of his most memorable confrontations have been against the Man Without Fear.

With enough strength to take on even Thor himself, Mr Hyde is an extremely formidable foe who would stretch Murdock to the limits of his abilities. His unique combination of brains and brawn also help make Hyde stand out from the plethora of other super strong villains who plague Marvel’s heroes on a regular basis.

The Daredevil show may focus more on street level crime, but as it’s still situated within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be gratifying for fans to occasionally see the Man Without Fear take on super-powered threats that would even give the Avengers a run for their money.
