7 Characters We Want To See In Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2

Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow has come and gone, and with it departed a few of the core team members. Fan-favorite Captain Cold made one last heroic gesture to save his team, but in the process was apparently killed. Not so fan-favorites Hawkgirl and Hawkman also took flight, wanting to learn more about who they were beyond their “destiny” and how they move forward with that information - and if any of what they learn makes them less boring characters, count me in. Because really, even worse then managing to strip almost all the charm from Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer, Legends of Tomorrow’s greatest sin was somehow managing to make Hawkgirl the least interesting character on the series. Now, there's plenty of room open on Captain Rip Hunter's ship, and with season 2 still a few months away, we've decided to take a look at 7 characters from the DC Universe that would make great additions to the team. There were many we had to leave off, but the characters that ultimately made the list are ones that we feel would give the series the greatest shake up, or at least, deliver interesting group dynamics. 7) Detective Lance This one will make sense, I promise this wasn’t just an easy fill. Paul Blackthorne has been one of the most consistently strong aspects of Arrow and has, without a doubt, been the show's greatest asset when it’s come to delivering emotional moments. So, with Sarah traveling time and space and Laurel still frustratingly deceased, what will the show have for him to do when both his familial tethers to the vigilante lifestyle are gone? Beyond wisdom there’s not much in the way of powers that Lance could add to the team, but for the sake of Blackthorne’s talents, he’d be much better utilized on the spaceship, in constant worry about his daughter now that he truly only has her left. 6) Vixen It seems rather unfortunate that all this character got was mini animated episodes when her character was so delightfully odd when we meet her in her live-action debut. With the ability to access the powers of any animal, she’s quite literally a force of nature. Quick on her feet, clever and equipped with many a zinger, her charms would match off well against the rest of the Legends of Tomorrow cast, which loves its quirky heroes and would help find a home for this wayward hero. Another selling point is the mystical nature of her powers, filling the void that Hawkgirl left with the ancient source of her power. What’s better is that Vixen is effortlessly more interesting and that just about any character at all would seem like an improvement over Kendra and Carter. 5) Artemis Can I go on the record and say that the popular Young Justice character was on my list before the announcement that her character-pseudonym, at least, would be joining the crop of characters in season five of Arrow? Seriously, she was, and now I’m even more certain she should have been one to join the Legends of Tomorrow crew. There are already too many archery masters on Arrow and, in all frankness, the show is quite obviously far from performing its best after season four's disappointing and melodramatic second half. More than anything I would be thrilled to see Sara and Artemis interacting together as more practical badasses. It might also be a nice contrast to bring on a character new to the vigilante lifestyle compared to those more accustomed to the fatal risks that come along with the job. 4) Black Siren The Lance girls got the short end of the stick while on Arrow as both came to their untimely deaths (even though one was in fact resurrected later on), but no character on the series was treated as poorly as Laurel Lance. Katie Cassidy’s heroine was always being either harshly critiqued by fans who feared her getting in the way of Oliver and Felicity’s romance or the showrunners who didn’t know how to properly utilize one of the most iconic characters from the DC superhero universe. Black Siren, her Earth 2 doppleganger introduced in season two of The Flash, isn’t a perfect fix, but at the least we could see Cassidy on our screens again and with the canary cry in her arsenal. Like Captain Cold and Heat Wave before her, she could be the rogue villain turned heroic by the end of the season. Plus, think about the dynamics she might share with Sara. Even better, though, would be to pull some timey-wimey nonsense, retcon Arrow's terrible decision to kill Black Canary off for nothing more than shock value, and bring her onto the team. 3) Zatanna For fans of the comic books and old cartoons, Zatanna will resonate as an under-appreciated hero and for new fans just coming on board through the series, she’ll spark some new blood into what had become a rather tired lineup of characters by the end of the season. Zatanna is someone that could also insert a sense of magic to the proceedings with a source of power much different than that of the hands on combative nature of White Canary, or the metahuman nature of Firestorm. She could open up the entire DC TV universe to many new avenues and we'd love to see her appear in some capacity in season 2. 2) Katana Rila Fukushima should be cast in more big budget films, period. But, if she's to stay on TV, why not pick back up her mantle as Katana, but on a show with some more dynamic group interaction and superheroic hijinks? Her Katana was one of the only good aspects of the meandering season three of Arrow, and she outclassed just about everyone in terms of her acting ability. Steely and cut off from everyone she ever cared about, it would be interesting to see her set in a team dynamic where she would be forced to watch out for others again. 1) Constantine Because Matt Ryan deserved a better series than the one he got playing the unlikely hero John Constantine. His cameo on Arrow season four proved just how immensely charismatic he is in the role and considering he doesn’t have many other options left in getting to play the character, he’d be a perfect addition to Legends of Tomorrow. Equal parts dashing scoundrel and unreliable hero, Constantine would bring out the sceptic nature of the other team members (him and Heat Wave would make a deliciously delightful pairing) while also injecting the series with a much needed energy after Captain Cold's departure. Invite Ryan on board and see what he does.
