5) The Question
As vigilantes go, The Question was always a harder sell than most in a world of brightly costumed superheroes. Starting out as a crusading journalist, The Question used his alter ego to interrogate criminals and fight corruption using his faceless mask to remove the scum of the city.
With no superpowers to speak of, The Question relies on scare tactics and a gas which changed the colour of his hair and clothes, enabling him to change disguises in the blink of an eye. This harmless gas was also used by The Question to intimidate criminals, claiming that exposure would cause them to permanently lose their own faces… and we thought Batman had issues!
Fortunately, the Arrowverse is more realistic than its comic book counterpart, so a grounded character like The Question could easily be introduced via either Arrow or The Flash to test the waters and see if audiences could actually warm to this strange, yet intriguing character. Fighting corrupt figures in Starling City would be like shooting fish in a barrel for The Question, or perhaps his obsession with meta-humans could be exploited more fully through a guest appearance in The Flash.
Excuse me for going there, BUT the real question is: why hasn’t such a peculiarly fascinating hero become more famous? Now’s the time. Get on it Berlanti!
