7 TV Shows That DC Should Make After Supergirl

While Marvel took over the known world with its superhero blockbusters, their closest rival DC snuck in through the back door and quietly invaded our homes through the medium of television. Thanks largely to the impressive work of producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, we're now living in a golden age of TV shows based on superheroes. Comic book geeks have never had it so good... aside from that time Black Widow was all tied up at the beginning of Avengers Assemble... and when Chris Evans frequently lost his clothes in Captain America: The First Avenger... and when - argh stop me now.

The upcoming Supergirl TV show should encourage producers to give more female heroes their own turn in the spotlight, but why stop with one superheroine when we could have three? Greedy, I know.

Birds of Prey has huge potential to become a successful spinoff from Arrow, as two members of the core trio have already appeared in the show previously. Both incarnations of Black Canary have become integral to Oliver Queen’s team and the Huntress has already had a number of popular guest spots as a vigilante gone rogue. The only member we haven’t met yet is Oracle, unless of course you’re one of the three people who watched the previous attempt at a Birds of Prey show back in 2002. If you did, then a) you’re probably aware that Oracle is Jim Gordon’s daughter, a tech expert who used to fight crime as Batgirl before the Joker paralysed her and b) the fact that you sat through even five minutes of that show makes you braver than all of the superheroes on this list combined.

Unlike some other suggestions listed here, the Birds of Prey generally fight crime on a street level, making them a perfect extension of DC’s TV universe and an ideal candidate for the small screen. It’s about time we had another more grounded take on the Arrowverse, after all the nutso stuff that’s gone on recently with Ra’s al Ghul and his Lazarus Pits.

Just please don’t let WB’s previous efforts at a Birds of Prey show blind you to the possibilities here. Things can only get better! Trust me guys… guys?

Tell us, do you think any of these shows have a chance of becoming as popular as Arrow? Do you have any more suggestions? And why on earth did they choose Melissa Benoist to take on the role of Supergirl? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
