7) Purple Man Gets An Origin Story
The origin story of Purple Man’s comic book counterpart is a little…underwhelming. He was a spy working for the soviet union who gained his mind control abilities when he was sent on a mission to steal an experimental nerve gas from an an American military base. It was when a rogue shot from a soldier exposed him to that which turned his skin purple and led to him deciding to embark on a career as a criminal.
There are a number of reasons why that wouldn’t work in this series, and it’s to Jessica Jones‘ credit that it created a much better version. Revealing initially that he was the subject of horrible medical experiments from his parents as a child (which inadvertently gave him his powers), the later twist that they were actually trying to save him and that he was always a horrible sociopath is absolutely brilliant.
