4) Seven Of Nine – Star Trek: Voyager

The heart of previous Star Trek incarnations had conversely been the alien, emotionless outsider of the team who had to learn about the human condition across the series. Think Spock or The Next Generation’s Data. One of the problems of the early seasons of Voyager, then, was that it didn’t feature one of these characters.
Thankfully, this was fixed with the addition of Seven of Nine in season four. A former Borg drone, Seven was easily the most interesting of the series’ cast of characters because she had a completely different moral compass from everyone else.
The character’s introduction paid off, as Seven’s introduction saw a sizeable boost of viewing figures that kept the show on the air for years to come. Of course, this might have something to do with the fact that actress Jeri Ryan wore a tight-fitting catsuit in the role…
