Arrow EP’s Comments Further Hint At Multiple Big Bads For Season 6

In the past week, we sure have learned a lot about what to expect from Arrow season 6, whether it be the latest Black Canary's new look or hearing that Ricardo Diaz/Richard Dragon will likely be the big bad for the coming year. Speaking of which, more information has come to light suggesting that he won't be alone.

In the past week, we sure have learned a lot about what to expect from Arrow season 6, whether it be the latest Black Canary’s new look or hearing that Ricardo Diaz/Richard Dragon will likely be the big bad for the coming year. Speaking of which, more information has come to light suggesting that he won’t be alone.

By that, I mean we could very well be looking at a small screen translation of “the Long Bow Hunters,” a group that, aside from Diaz, also includes the likes of the Clock King, Brick, Count Vertigo, Red Dart and Killer Moth. And knowing how most of those characters have already shown up in the Arrowverse, it’s not outside the realm of possibility to introduce the others – or put a couple already known to viewers in their place.

When recently speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Wendy Mericle helped add fuel to the fire when it comes to speculation surrounding the Long Bow Hunters. Notice how she corrects herself in midstream when discussing the next overarching villain:

“As usual, every season we want to try to up the stakes and do something different. This will be something we’ve never seen before. The villain will be hopefully as dynamic and as interesting as the ones we’ve had in the past. These people, or this person, won’t just be somebody that’s a thorn in Oliver’s side, but it’ll effect the whole team personally and very directly.”

Now, some of you out there may think she’s talking about Helix, and that’s quite understandable given that we’ve been teased with them showing up again in the near future. While I think they’ll remain their own separate entity, Mericle doesn’t shy away from discussing them.

“You never know. They are still in the wind. We don’t like to leave those threads dangling.”

Arrow returns for its sixth season on Thursday, October 12 on The CW.
