After withstanding a flurry of bullets – much to the dismay of the armed goons crowding up an old gym – Colter’s attire is left in tatters, leading Marvel’s Power Man to grumble, “I’m about sick of always having to buy new clothes.” Reluctant though he may be, Luke Cage is still on a mission to clean up the streets of Harlem, after taking up residence in the northerly neighborhood following the events that transpired during Jessica Jones.

It’s here that Cage finds himself going up against Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes – Mahershala Ali, better known to House of Cards fans as the super-slick Remy Danton – who presides over an illegal drug trade that has now spread its poisonous tentacles throughout Harlem. Leave it to Cage, then, to clean up the mess.

Headlining the casting docket as Marvel’s Hero for Hire is Mike Colter, flanked by Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley, Erik LaRay Harvey, with Rosario Dawson, Frankie Faison, and Alfre Woodard.

Luke Cage is booked in to storm onto Netflix on September 30. It’ll harbor some overlapping elements with the season 2 finale of Daredevil, and ardent Marvelites will no doubt be keeping their peepers peeled in anticipation of the Easter eggs and fleeting references. Following this standalone spinoff, Mike Colter’s musclebound hero will then regroup with New York’s finest for Marvel’s planned Defenders series in late 2017.
