The Flash EP Addresses Mystery Girl Fan Theories

Ever since she first appeared at Barry Allen and Iris West's wedding last fall during the Crisis on Earth-X crossover, pretty much every Arrowverse fan has been left scratching their heads as to whom the mystery girl played by Jessica Parker Kennedy (Smallville) may be. And, to further complicate matters, she's popped up in a few episodes of The Flash in the time since.

From the look of things, many of us have been able to deduce that she’s probably a time traveler, most likely having some sort of relation to Barry and Iris – and that she’s possibly a speedster herself. As such, the prevailing theories are that she’s either their daughter, Dawn Allen, or their granddaughter, Jenni Ognats.

When confronted by TV Line, executive producer and showrunner Todd Helbing confounded viewers by offering the following:

“Every year, there are theories all over the place about what we’re doing. Some of them get pretty close, some of them hit, like, one part of it but they don’t get the other parts. I don’t think anybody ever is going to guess exactly what it is.”

Upon reading that, one could guess that we could be on the money, but the producers are putting their own spin on one of the aforementioned characters. After all, they’ve done so before with the likes of Eobard Thawne and Hunter Zolomon, who were both equal parts faithful to the comics and unique to the Arrowverse.

Iris West new costume on The Flash

Let it be known that Helbing was said to be “mum” when presented with the Dawn Allen theory, hinting that Iris’ speedster costume’s colors could provide hints to her identity, again pointing toward Jenni Ognats. Still, we can’t rule out the possibility of her being season 5’s big bad, but fingers remain crossed for her being an ally.

That said, we have enough faith in the fanbase as to not think they’re as in the dark as the powers that be may assume. Remember, we were told that none of us would see the identity of Savitar coming a year ago at this time, and it ended up being everybody’s prime suspect, that of a future version of Barry Allen. In other words, stick to your gut feeling.

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights on The CW.
