Jodie Whittaker’s On Top Of The World In New Doctor Who Photo

The BBC might still be keeping hold of as many details about the upcoming eleventh season as possible, but at least we're now getting more shots of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. Following on from official posters and a bunch of stills from the episodes, check out this new promo image shared by the official Doctor Who Twitter account.

Following on from official posters and a bunch of stills from the episodes, there’s now a new promo image that’s been shared by the official Doctor Who Twitter account. Captioned “On top of the world,” it features the latest incarnation of the Time Lord standing atop a precarious cliff-face as the Doctor turns towards the camera with her sonic screwdriver in hand.

Judging by the incredible surroundings, we can safely say this wasn’t taken in the UK and likely comes from the rumored shooting in either Spain or South Africa. Regardless, you can check it out for yourself below.

While it’s an impressive shot with a cinematic quality, which bodes well for the look of the new season, this image must’ve been put together carefully to avoid spoiling anything. This dedication to keeping secrets comes from new showrunner Chris Chibnall, who wants to preserve spoilers before the series airs in order to make sure everyone’s on the same page when it finally debuts. That said, Chibnall’s already revealed that we shouldn’t expect to see the Daleks this year and that each episode will be entirely standalone.

Of course, not featured in this image are the Doctor’s three companions – Yasmin (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh). While most are excited to see what Whittaker brings to the table, Chibnall wants her new friends to be the audience identification figures. Their different ethnicities, ages and personalities were deliberately chosen so as broad a range of people as possible can find a way into the show.

At the moment, a release date has yet to be announced for Doctor Who season 11, but seeing as we’re now in August and it’s expected to air in either September or October, we’d expect some news on that front quite soon.
