We’re only a handful of projects into the MCU’s Phase 4, but we’ve already encountered a bunch of the next generation of heroes. WandaVision introduced Scarlet Witch’s twins Billy and Tommy, AKA Wiccan and Speed, Eli Bradley/Patriot appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the likes of Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop and America Chavez are on their way. It’s clear that Marvel is gearing up to bring together the Young Avengers, then. And another one of the team may have turned up in Loki.
Loki episode 4’s post-credits scene introduced Kid Loki (Jack Veal), a Loki variant who had succeeded in killing his brother Thor, despite his young age. He was last seen in Episode 5, where his fate was left open-ended. According to our info, though, Kid Loki is sure to come back as he’ll eventually go on to join the Young Avengers. As per our reliable sources- the same ones who told us about Anthony Mackie’s Captain America 4 before that was confirmed – Veal’s youthful God of Mischief will have a place in the lineup of teen heroes.
In the comics, Kid Loki likewise joined the Young Avengers. The comics version is a reincarnated Loki who had a redemption arc as part of the team, as he wanted to avoid becoming the villain he was before. This arc could work pretty well for the MCU’s Kid Loki too, who may turn over a new leaf after meeting Hiddleston’s Loki and could come to regret killing his brother.
But what everyone really wants to know is: what about Alligator Loki? Well, we haven’t heard what’s next for him as yet, but he was last seen with Kid Loki so it’s feasible the pair could stick together and the croc could become ,say, the team mascot.
To date, a Young Avengers project has yet to be officially announced, but it’s obviously just a matter of time until it happens. In many ways, it looks like Marvel is repeating the trick that worked so well with the adult Avengers – introduce them individually over time before ultimately uniting them. The exact lineup is unknown but it looks like it will include Kid Loki.
