New Star Wars Rebels Clip May Hint At A Darker Path For Ezra

The first season of Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels was pretty good, but the recent sophomore outing really raised the bar for what could be accomplished with an animated series primarily aimed at children, with some surprisingly dark twists, and the reintroduction of the likes of Ahsoka Tano and Darths Maul and Vader. The highly anticipated third season is set to premiere in a couple of weeks, and this new clip suggests the level of quality will be kept up.

The season 2 finale hinted that young force-user, Ezra Bridger, might be more open to being seduced by the dark side of the force than his mentor Kanan would like to admit, and in this sneak peek we see just how powerful he’s become, as he uses the ol’ Jedi mind trick to lethal effect.

There’s a persistent fan-theory that the character of Supreme Leader Snoke from Star Wars: The Force Awakens will actually turn out to be Ezra, which means he would obviously have had to turn to the dark side at some point. There’s absolutely nothing to back this up of course, but it is an interesting idea.

We shall see if Ezra is able to resist that darker path when Star Wars Rebels returns to our screens at 8:30 p.m.(ET) on Saturday, September 24th. In the meantime, you can check out the most recent trailer here.
