In addition to Jon Cryer’s upcoming debut as Lex Luthor, Supergirl viewers have something else to look forward to, and that’s Nicole Maines’ Nia Nal finally donning a heroic costume of her own. Yes, we’ve known that she’d eventually take to the streets upon the announcement of her casting, but Arrowverse producers have once again wisely went with the slow burn approach.

If you’re current on the series, then you remember how the most recent episode, “Suspicious Minds,” saw Brainiac-5 encouraging Nia to embrace her powers and destiny. In fact, he even supplied her with a book filled with designs for possible costumes.

Well, regardless of whether the image you’re about to check out originated in said book or not, I think we can agree the costuming department knocked it out of the park yet again because, seen below, is the first official photo of Dreamer in full regalia. Just be forewarned that while we’ll get a glimpse at the suit this Sunday during “Blood Memories,” it won’t be until February 17th’s “Menagerie” when Nia rocks these threads.

Here’s what Maines herself told Entertainment Weekly about the upgrade in fashion, and specifically on how fans may react:

“I hope they feel validated, especially trans folks. I hope they feel that sense of, ‘Oh my gosh…’ That’s when it’ll really sink that we have a trans superhero. I mean, it’s so important and I can’t wait.”

But when it comes to the more immediate future, here’s what executive producer Jessica Queller teased about what we’ll see in just a matter of days:

“It [“Blood Memories”] was a very special episode and very relationship-oriented, and it was really, really wonderful to explore Nia’s origin story, I guess, and learn more about who she is and where she comes from.”

Supergirl airs on Sunday nights on The CW.
