The Reverse-Flash Is Back In Description For Episode 11 Of The Flash

It was revealed last year that Matthew Letscher had been asked to return to The Flash as the villainous Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash, and while Zoom is the big bad of season two, this character is all anyone has been talking about ever since. It's pretty easy to understand why when you think about it though. After all, the last time we saw Thawne, he was being erased from history.

It was revealed last year that Matthew Letscher had been asked to return to The Flash as the villainous Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash, and while Zoom is the big bad of season two, this character is all anyone has been talking about ever since. It’s pretty easy to understand why when you think about it though. After all, the last time we saw Thawne, he was being erased from history.

So, how has he returned? The official synopsis below doesn’t shed too much light on that, but with Earth-2 factoring into this season of The Flash, could he be a doppelgänger? That remains to be seen, but here’s the description for the episode – appropriately titled “The Reverse-Flash Returns!” – courtesy of The CW:

HE’S BACK… — When Cisco (Carlos Valdes) gets a vibe of Eobard Thawne (guest star Matthew Letscher), Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team don’t believe it. But, after an attack at Mercury Labs, Christina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays) confirms that the Reverse Flash is back. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) and Francine (guest star Vanessa A. Williams) share a nice moment that brings Iris closer to her brother, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale). Michael Allowitz directed the episode written by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing.

With any luck, this is the real Reverse-Flash, though it would certainly be interesting if he’s something new. What if the Earth-2 version is a hero?! Whatever the truth is, we won’t find out for sure until this instalment of The Flash airs on January 26th. If his greatest enemy really has returned from the dead though, this year is about to go from bad to worse for poor old Barry Allen, that’s for sure.
