Green Lantern Arrowverse

New Synopsis For The Flash Teases A Green Lantern Villain

Throughout the years, the Arrowverse has flirted with Green Lantern lore, but it’s yet to formally introduce any sort of ringslinger into the fold. Seeing as how this is one of the few major boxes the DC TV shared continuity has yet to check off, one would hope that it be achieved before long. After all, the recent "Elseworlds" crossover heavily suggested that John Stewart is the Earth-90 doppelganger of John Diggle, so hopefully we can meet that fella down the line.

Until then, though, an obscure villain of Hal Jordan’s may soon make his way to The Flash – or, at least, that’s what the synopsis for “Goldfaced” is forcing people to believe. Here, take a look for yourself and then formulate your own opinion:

BARRY AND IRIS EACH TAKE DANGEROUS STEPS TO STOP CICADA — Barry (Grant Gustin) and Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) must go undercover as criminals in an illegal black market to purchase a device that could help them stop Cicada (Chris Klein). Once inside, Barry and Ralph find their morality tested as they slip deeper into the criminal world, eventually having to choose between committing a crime, or losing the means to defeat one of their greatest foes. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) investigates a lead on Cicada’s whereabouts and ends up in a dangerous situation. Alexandra LaRoche directed the episode written by Jonathan Butler & Gabriel Garza (#513).

If indeed we’re about to bear witness to the live action debut of Goldface, it sounds like Todd Helbing and company may take a grounded approach in adapting him. If not, then perhaps such a suggestive episode title shouldn’t have been settled upon.

Like I said earlier, this particular baddie isn’t all that well known. Aside from a guest shot on Justice League Unlimited, he hasn’t really appeared outside of the comic book medium. And even though I’m a DC diehard, I can’t help but picture Goldust of WWE fame while writing this article.

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights on The CW, with “Goldfaced” set to grace our screens on February 5th.
