Thanks to Netflix’s cancellation spree, a recurring fantasy favorite staying radio silent for 2 months is cause for concern

Keep those fingers crossed that the end isn't nigh for another one.

It only took Netflix a matter of weeks to announce that episodic espionage thrillers The Recruit, The Night Agent, and The Diplomat had been renewed for additional seasons, but we’re almost exactly two months removed from the debut of Shadow and Bone‘s second run, and we’re yet to hear a peep about its future.

That’s concerning enough as it is, especially when you consider that upwards of two dozen Netflix fantasies have been canceled in since the beginning of 2020, while the lack of any news on a potential stay of execution for Lockwood & Co. ended up yielding the results nobody wanted but everyone should have been prepared for.

Thankfully, the fandom is fully aware that a season 3 is by no means guaranteed, so they’ve decided to take matters into their own hands by launching a guerrilla campaign explicitly designed into tricking the algorithm by artificially inflating its viewing figures. There is a ray of light at the end of the tunnel, though, but it’s one that needs to be cracked wide open sooner rather than later.

The opening run of adventures in the GrishaVerse premiered in April of 2021, with an official confirmation of a follow-up not being unveiled to the world until June. That was a two-month gap, but we’re fast approaching an identical timeframe between seasons, and as of yet there’s no word on Shadow and Bone returning.

Not that it would be a shock were it to join the ever-expanding list of canned fantasy favorites, but some clarity would be nice.
