When you think about it, that’s pretty much the same situation that’s happening on TWD right now, too. The season’s penultimate episode, “The Calm Before,” saw the Whisperers massacre 10 victims, which was a devastating blow to our heroes who’ll have to process their grief and do something about it in the finale. The Walking Dead Twitter account was quick to make this comparison as they mocked up some parody Endgame posters this morning, which soon went viral.

Bearing the tagline “Avenge the dead” – a play on the Marvel versions’ “Avenge the Fallen” – the TWD posters showcase Daryl, Michonne and Carol as well as Tara and Enid, who were both killed by Alpha in the recent episode.

The link between the two franchises is, of course, Danai Gurira, who also has an official Endgame poster for her role as Okoye. Memorably, there was a backlash the other week when the Black Panther actress was not listed on the ensemble poster despite featuring on it. To Marvel’s credit, they quickly apologized and released an altered poster that corrected the oversight.

Before Avengers: Endgame rocks the world in just one month’s time, though, on April 26th, The Walking Dead season 9 reaches its own grand finale with “The Storm.” And that’s not just a metaphorical title, as the episode is set to see the survivors face a ferocious blizzard. Be sure to catch it on AMC this Sunday, March 31st.
