If you think that the Governor was an awful, irredeemable bad guy, just wait until you meet Negan. Fucking Negan. Psychotic head of a biker gang who sort of runs the roads in the apocalypse. I cannot recall a character who has elicited such a powerful reaction from me. While the Governor was an awful man, Negan is something else. A mindless psycho. You may think Governor raping Michonne is awful, and it is, but when Negan tells Rick he will have his boys run a train on Carl, you realize, this might actually be a little TOO dark.
But even for all the talk, Negan decides to show that he can also walk the walk by lining up a bunch of our favorite survivors (Rick, Maggie, Glen, among others), saying he will choose one at random to kill. After a quick moment of wondering who it will be, we find out as Negan brings the bat down several times into Glen’s skull. The art for this scene is stomach-turning, as we see one of Glen’s eyeballs nearly hanging out of its socket, as he tries to scream Maggie’s name.
Also, at this point in the comic storyline, Maggie is pregnant.
This scene once again reminded me that it doesn’t matter what medium the story is told in, no one is safe in The Walking Dead universe, so don’t ever get too attached.
