First DLC For Dead Space 3 Titled Awakened, Launches In March

With Dead Space 3 having just launched today, there is a good chance that you have not even had the time to tear the plastic wrap off your copy to get a whiff of that intoxicating "new game smell", let alone played though enough of it to know if you are interested in purchasing any downloadable content. That apparently matters little to Electronic Arts, as the publisher has already announced that you can extend the game with the Awakened DLC pack next month.

With Dead Space 3 having just launched today, there is a good chance that you have not even had the time to tear the plastic wrap off your copy to get a whiff of that intoxicating “new game smell”, let alone played though enough of it to know if you are interested in purchasing any downloadable content. That apparently matters little to Electronic Arts, as the publisher has already announced that you can extend the game with the Awakened DLC pack next month.

Little is known about what is in the Dead Space 3 Awakened DLC, however, Electronic Arts stated that it is better than the actual contents of the game because it contains the “franchise’s darkest chapters as the Necromorph battles become even more gruesome and terrifying than ever before”. Steve Papoutsis, the game’s executive producer, added that “… gamers will experience some of the most disturbing content they have ever seen in a Dead Space game [in the Awakened DLC] — they are going to love it.”

The specific launch date for Awakened was not announced, however, Electronic Arts did reveal that the Dead Space 3 downloadable content will run you $9.99 over the PlayStation Network and Origin and 800 Microsoft Bucks if purchased though Xbox Live Marketplace.

Basically, if you are looking to experience everything that Dead Space 3 has to offer it will cost you; $60 for the game, $9.99 for the online pass (if you bought it used and want to play online co-op), $9.99 for the Awakened DLC (we are assuming future DLC packs will also cost the same), and about $41 if you buy all the wonderful microtransaction items that are available (these range in price from $0.99 for the Resource Pack, to $4.99 for the Bot Capacity Upgrade).

Remember how horrible it was in the old days when we bought the actual full game from a publisher and that one transaction marked the end of that particular relationship?

At any rate, as we get more information on exactly what Dead Space 3 Awakened is all about we will let you know.
