Square-Enix has announced today the return of one of its classic entries in the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy V, a critically acclaimed fan favorite, is currently in development for the PS3 and PSP systems.

Players will be glad to hear that Square has planned for new CG sequences exclusive to the r-erelease on the PSN, not to mention bringing back the classic ATB (Active Time Battle) system, original mini quests, menu-activated magic and summoning systems, and much more.

The story so far is as follows:

“One day, the Tycoon King, upon feeling an irregularity in the air currents, rushed to the Wind Shrine, only to find the Wind Crystal shattering to pieces right before his eyes. In addition to this catastrophe, an enormous meteor had fallen to the ground, causing earthquakes in the surrounding land near Tycoon Castle.

Unbeknownst to them, this event is about to bring four people from different walks of life together on a common journey filled with new encounters and many mysteries.”

A favorite amongst the classic RPG (Role-Playing Game) genre, Final Fantasy V is sure to bring back memories of a beloved childhood game for older players of the series, and not to mention drawing in new players with its deep and timeless story. Final Fantasy V is now at the top of my download list as soon as it hits the PSN.

I have been playing video games since I was old enough to pick up a controller. An avid RPG fan, a a deadly shot on most popular FPS games, you can find me stalking my prey on the PS3 almost every night. As a father of four boys, I am always on the lookout for family friendly gaming, and encourage parents to do the same. If you would like to get together and test your skills on the PS3 I can be found using the PSN name Blue_cow_spit.
