Richard E. Grant Wouldn’t Say No To A Return As Classic Loki

Not everyone who inks a contract with Marvel Studios is obligated to stick around for multiple film and television appearances, with Richard E. Grant the latest high profile talent to show up fleetingly in the world’s most popular franchise. Of course, the veteran actor stole virtually every scene he was in during the fifth episode of Disney Plus series Loki, and you can guarantee that audiences would love to see him return.

Kevin Feige recently admitted he was beyond thrilled with the way fans have been reacting to the raft of new faces introduced throughout Phase Four so far, and we can definitely add Grant’s Classic Loki to a list that already includes Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness, Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius, David Harbour’s Red Guardian and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova.

In a new interview, Grant revealed that while he thinks Classic Loki has accomplished what he set out to do by making the ultimate sacrifice to send Sylvie and Tom Hiddleston’s Asgardian God of Mischief off towards their final mission, he wouldn’t say no to Marvel Studios if the opportunity to return were to arise in the future.

“As you just said, everything’s possible. But I think that’s because his sacrifice is so huge and it’s going out with such a bang, how do you top that if he had to come back? I have no idea. You know, it’s not within my arena to do that. But I wouldn’t say no, if asked. Put it that way.”

With two dozen feature films and streaming exclusives in various stages of development, all of which are expected to arrive before the end of 2024 at the very latest, there’s going to be plenty of spots needing filled across the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s vast array of projects. Based on volume alone, there’s every chance that one of them might need the unique mix of dramatic talent, Shakespearean gravitas and comic timing that Richard E. Grant possesses in abundance, so his end in Loki may not end up being the exclamation point on his comic book career.
