Viewers are incredulous that Netflix’s ‘You People’ reportedly faked Jonah Hill and Lauren London’s big kiss scene with CGI

Really? They couldn't just suck it up for a quick peck on the lips??

Critics of Netflix’s romcom You People have panned the movie due to the unbelievable chemistry of the film’s two leads, Jonah Hill and Lauren London, who play an interracial couple whose respective families put a strain on their relationship. But it sounds as though there’s a reason for that, as Hill and London didn’t even kiss in the big romantic finale scene.

This is according to comedian Andrew Schulz, who played Cousin Avi in the movie. During a recent episode of The Brilliant Idiots podcast, which he co-hosts with Charlamagne Tha God, Schulz revealed the so-called Hollywood magic that occurred between filming and the finished product.

“There’s a hilarious thing — I don’t even know if I should share this shit — but the final scene, they don’t even kiss. It’s CGI. Swear to God,” Schulz revealed. When Charlamagne expressed disbelief, he elaborated.

“I’m there, I’m watching the wedding, and I see them go in for the kiss, and their faces stop like this far,” he continued. “And I’m like, ‘I wonder how they’re gonna play that in the movie. Oh, they’re probably just gonna cut right there.’ But the movie, you could see their faces come close, and then you could see their faces morph a little bit into a fake kiss.”

After a clip from the episode went viral on Twitter earlier this week, internet sleuths dug up the scene in question, and when scrutinized out of context — the kiss does indeed look fake as heck.

Others likewise agreed that a CGI kiss in a romantic comedy was mind-boggling, and wondered why the actors would commit to the roles if they couldn’t even get through a closed-mouth kiss.

Despite the kiss controversy, You People, which also stars Eddie Murphy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Duchovny, and Nia Long, debuted at Netflix’s top spot following its Jan. 27 premiere, with over 55 million hours viewed.
