Donald Trump in for nasty shock as a different kind of predator pays a visit to Mar-a-Lago

The president has clarified in the past how he is 'not a fan.'

Donald Trump isn’t currently at his residence in Mar-a-Lago but there is a predator lurking around the expensive Palm Beach property. According to wildlife tracking nonprofit organization OCEARCH, a large 10-foot long, 689-pound, great white shark sent out a “Z ping” from the waters around the President’s luxurious oceanfront property.

The apex predator named “Cayo” reportedly spent a bit of time swimming around Mar-a-Lago with the Z ping being picked up around 6:50 AM on April 13. The pings are usually sent out when tracked animals spend time near the surface of the water. According to the organization tracking the aquatic beasts “The signal is sent and received by an Argos satellite, but it’s not strong enough to determine an accurate location.”

According to an article from the Daily Mail, Cayo was initially tagged and released in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, and has been tracked since July 2025. In less than a year she has traveled over 4,100 miles and is currently lurking in the waters just off the East Coast.

No need to worry

Although Trump is not currently at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, he probably would be disturbed to know that one of the most feared creatures in the ocean is currently patrolling the waters around his Florida home. However, OCEARCH has stated that Cayo’s presence in the waters does not pose a risk to anyone. According to the organization, juvenile sharks such as Cayo typically avoid coming close to the shore; it’s unlikely any beachgoers will even see the shark.

This is a normal migration pattern according to scientists. Great whites often move south for the winter and spring seasons as it is warmer and prey is more abundant. In the summer and fall they make their way back north.

Donald Trump is not a big fan of sharks

The president’s presence in Mar-a-Lago poses a threat to sharks in the area as his flights to the estate interfere with marine biologists ability to track the big fish in the area. Biologist Stephen M. Kajiura explained that Trump’s frequent flights meant that the airspace around Mar-a-Lago had to be shut down, preventing scientists from conducting surveys.

Of course, it’s unlikely that any of this would even bother Trump who cares very little for nature and animals in general, he’d much rather destroy their habitats for oil and real estate. He’s also expressed his hatred for sharks specifically many times in the past, writing in one X post, “I’m just not a fan of sharks.”

Another time he wrote “Sharks are last on my list – other than perhaps the losers and haters of the World!” And at a rally in 2020 he even gloated about rejecting calls for funding to save sharks. So it seems the president certainly won’t be glad to hear about this great white passing through the waters around his home.
