Of all the Clone Troopers introduced during Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Commander Wolffe will always be remembered as a true stand-out – not least because he served alongside the great Jedi General, Plo Koon.
But according to The Clone Wars scribe Henry Gilroy (h/t Star Wars Explained), Wolffe was actually the one who triggered Order 66 and effectively brought an end to the Jedi soon after Revenge of the Sith. And here’s the kicker: he removed his chip after carrying out the deed.
Such a cruel twist of fate would also have a knock-on effect on the character’s Rebels arc, and help explain exactly why Jedi Kanan was so tense and apprehensive anytime he was in Wolffe’s company – the Trooper had a hand in executing Order 66, for crying out loud!

That certainly frames Star Wars: The Clone Wars in a totally different light, and has us all the more excited for the show’s upcoming revival.
Announced by Lucasfilm during the summer, The Clone Wars 2.0 is a 12-episode comeback that’s been set for a premiere in 2019, though further details are being kept under lock and key for the time being. Nevertheless, that won’t stop the speculation, and Matthew Wood (General Grievous), for one, is incredibly excited about what’s to come.
The seventh (and presumably final) season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is due to premiere via Disney’s streaming service in 2019, so here’s hoping we get a little more insight into this shocking new revelation about Commander Wolffe and the fate of Order 66.
Next up for Lucasfilm’s live-action juggernaut is the debut of Episode IX next Christmas, and filming is already well underway on the J.J. Abrams threequel.
