Theaters Are Warning Fans That There’s No Avengers: Endgame Post-Credits Scene

Avengers: Endgame has no post-credits scene and I'm surprisingly cool with it. Much of that is down to this being an actual honest-to-god ending for the MCU as we know it. Decade long character arcs and plot points are neatly tied up, creating a new world of possibilities for future films. Having a little tease at the end would undermine this sense of finality - and anyway, I'm sure there'll be something after Spider-Man: Far From Home.

But some audience members are feeling short-changed that they’ve patiently sat through the credits to find nothing at the end (save the sound of a hammer striking metal). I can empathize with them, too. After all, having sat through the gargantuan three hours of Endgame, I was pretty eager to get out of the theatre and into the fresh air. To stave off this disappointment, then, some theaters are actively warning fans not to stick around.

And you can’t say fairer than that. But despite there being no post-credits scene, the main credits of Endgame are well worth sticking around for if you’ve been with the MCU from the beginning. In a nice, classy move, each of the major players gets a mini-montage of some classic scenes, their silhouette on screen and the actor’s signature in metallic silver. It grants a sense of ownership and personalization that, after so long inhabiting these characters, they’ve absolutely earned.

And I guess that hammering sound at the end might be a very subtle hint that although some major players might have bitten the dust, there are new heroes waiting in the wings to take their place. I’d bet that the real future of the MCU will be revealed after Far From Home. After all, it’s officially the finale of Phase 3 and should be a lighter and breezier film than Endgame. Perhaps we’ll even get a teaser for The Eternals or maybe a hint that in the post-Avengers: Endgame universe, mutants will somehow emerge
