While the summer season has been dominated by blockbuster superhero films, those who prefer to watch their crime-fighting on the small screen have a lot to look forward to this autumn. Last month, The CW pulled back the curtain on its fall schedule, which includes brand new episodes of Supergirl, Black Lightning, The Flash and Arrow, as well as a handful of other non-superhero shows, such as Nancy Drew and Riverdale.
Of course, fans have also been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Batwoman, the newest entry in the long-running Arrowverse. The CW not only gave longtime followers a glimpse at their take on the Batsuit last month, but they also premiered a full-length trailer, which showed Kate Kane’s journey as she assumes the mantle of Batwoman.
Taken as a whole, it looks like fans are eager to see what the series brings to the table, but unsurprisingly, a few detractors have been voicing their vitriolic opinions online. As Cosmic Book News reports, some newly-released promos are getting slammed on YouTube, with the number of dislikes far outweighing the number of likes, which is a rarity on the platform.
While Batwoman‘s official teaser has fared well (7.3K likes vs. 3.6K dislikes), the first full-length trailer hasn’t done so hot (79K likes against 393K dislikes). The problem continues with the “Times Are Changing” promo, too (1,500 likes vs. 16K dislikes).
While some of those complaining simply take issue with the show’s somewhat cheesy feel, others have expressed their displeasure at the strong anti-Batman sentiment. Similarly, a vocal minority doesn’t seem to be happy when it comes to the strong message of female empowerment, which is something we’ve seen across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, too.
Personally, we’d rather watch the first couple of episodes before we cast judgment, and it looks like we won’t have to wait too long to do just that. Batwoman is scheduled to premiere this fall on October 6th and will air at 8 p.m. ET on Sundays, exclusively on The CW.
