Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum have been vocal in the past about their desire for more Smallville, but it seems likely that a revival of any sort won’t be featuring series mainstay Allison Mack. The actress has recently plead guilty to being involved in a horrific sex cult and is currently awaiting sentencing. Both actors, who worked with the 36-year-old for a full decade, said that they were extremely shocked to hear about the dark details of their former co-star’s twisted life of crime.
On a recent episode of Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, they discussed working with Mack. The host reveals that there were red flags in retrospect, but maintains that he never suspected that she would ever get involved in something of this sort. Welling agreed whole-heartedly as well, saying:
“I didn’t know anything about it… I was very surprised to read anything about it. It’s sounds very bizarre. Allison was always a nice person around me. It’s also funny that people think that we would know, or that we would have some perspective on it.”
Rosenbaum then added to the conversation by saying:
“And now, things have added up and … you’re sort of in the middle where you’re like, ‘Hey, I’ll always have love for Allison, but did this really happen?’ I don’t know what to say, other than if it’s true, it’s a tragedy… I remember one time, maybe it was Allison who asked me or something and she was just like, ‘Hey, you should try coming to it,’ and I was like, ‘No. I don’t know. It’s not for me.'”
It looks like the actor may have unknowingly dodged a huge bullet at the time. The moral of the story is that people never truly know what their seemingly normal co-workers are up to when they aren’t on the job. Hopefully, Mack will spend plenty of time behind bars to pay for her actions and these two actors can continue their promising careers in the small-screen DC universe without constantly having to think of the awful things their former Smallville colleague was doing right under their noses.
