The 10 strongest Uchiha clan members in ‘Naruto,’ ranked

They're gloomy, and they're broken, but they're one of the most powerful clans in all of anime.

The Uchiha Clan is one of four clans among the Hidden Leaf Village, believed to be the strongest due to their abilities in the Naruto universe. The clan is blessed with unbelievable chakra, but also cursed with the Curse of Hatred. Some members of the family refuse to be cursed and hold themselves up to the Will of Fire philosophy.

The popular anime featuring the world’s most depressed clan recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a reanimated clip of the show’s best moments released by Studio Pierrot.

There may not be a lot of them left alive, but the Uchiha clan is known to be one of the most powerful clans in the world of Naruto with members of the clan on both sides of the fight. Among all these powerful ninjas, here are the 10 strongest.

10. Kagami

Kagami was one of the few members of the Uchiha clan to awaken his Sharingan, which granted him special abilities, such as the ability to see someone’s chakra, recognize Genjutsu, predict an opponent’s movements, and copy techniques.

Kagami was among the first ninjas to graduate from the Academy. During the First Shinobi World War, he was part of the Escort Unit who followed the Second Hokage around. Although the family has the Curse of Hatred looming over its head, Kagami’s goodness and loyalty allowed him to never fall victim. Instead, Kagami had the Will of Fire, which is rooted in love and peace.

9. Shin

Shin was a member of the Konahagakure’s Anbu Black Ops, a team of covert operative ninjas dispatched by the village leader. Within the Root Division of the team, Shin grew close to Sai, whom he looked to as a younger brother.

Since members of the Root Division are not supposed to form an attachment to another person, Danzō Shimura, the division leader, ordered Shin and Sai to fight to the death. Since Shin was already dying from an unknown disease, the two friends refused to fight. Shin told Sai to tell Danzō that he killed him in battle. After meeting Naruto Uzumaki, Sai noted the similarities between Naruto and his old friend.

8. Fugaku

Fugaku was the leader of the Uchiha Clan and father of Itachi and Susuke. He was revered and feared at the mere mention of his nickname Wicked Eye Fugaku. He placed Itachi in the Anbu to spy for the clan. Unbeknownst to Fugaku, this decision would lead Itachi down a dark path, which resulted in the massacre of the entire Uchiha clan at the hands of Itachi. Realizing that Itachi made a deal to spare Sasuke’s life, Fugaku willingly allowed Itachi to kill him.

7. Izuna

Izuna is the brother of Madara and one of the strongest Uchiha Clan members. He was one of a long line of the clan to fall victim to the Curse of Hatred. Izuna possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan, which allows someone to see the truth of all creation.

He was mortally wounded by Tobirama’s flying thunder god, Slash. Before dying, he gave Madara his eyes, so he too could have the Mangekyō Sharingan to help rule the village.

6. Shisui

Shisui graduated from the Academy during the Third Shinobi War. He was a descendant of Kagami and a member of the Konahagakure’s Anbu Black Ops, serving on the genin team. During a mission, he witnessed the death of his best friend which awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Danzō Shimura managed to take one of Shisui’s Mangekyō Sharingan eyes. Shisui trusted his other eye in the care of Itachi before jumping to his death in the Naka River. Despite his difficult life, Shisui inherited Kagami’s Will of Fire instead of Curse of Hatred.

5. Sarada

Sarada, daughter of Sasuke and Sakura, is the main protagonist of the Naruto manga spinoff Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring and is one of the main characters in the Boruto anime. Although Sarada looks like her father, she has her mother’s personality and temperament, showing a very dark and fiery side when something angers her.

Sarada is extremely intelligent and powerful, even more so than her father at the same age. She dreams of one day being able to help and connect with people by being Hokage.

4. Itachi

Itachi was the eldest son of Fugaku and the brother of Sasuke. He was a brilliant young ninja and became the youngest ninja to graduate from the Academy.

Itachi was the most misunderstood member of the Uchiha family. Despite wanting to put an end to all the fighting and bloodshed, when it came down to allowing his entire clan to be murdered or helping the massacre in exchange for his brother’s life, Itachi chose his brother. His decision made him an international criminal.

Itachi lived his life in grief for what he had done and wanted Sasuke to be the one to finally kill him, so he did everything in his power to make his brother angry. It wasn’t until after Itachi’s death that Sasuke learned the truth about his brother.

3. Obito

Obito, otherwise known as Tobi, was one of the main antagonists of Naruto. Although he was believed to have died during the Third Shinobi War, Madara saved his life and trained him. Together, they tried to bring “peace” to the world by trapping mankind in a sleep state and taking away free will.

Knowing that while giving birth to her child, Kushina—the bearer of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox—would be in a weakened state, so he attacked, trying to gain control of the demon for himself. Instead, Kushina and her husband, Minato, sealed the demon fox inside their new baby, Naruto.

Obito spent the majority of his life claiming to be Madara, took control of the Akatsuki, and started the Fourth Shinobi World War. He had a change of heart near the end of the anime, regretting all the people he killed and gave his life to save Naruto and Kakashi.

2. Madara

Madara was the leader of the Uchiha Clan for a while and founded the Hidden Leaf Village with his friend and rival Hashirama Senju. When the two could not agree on how to achieve peace in the village, they fought, and Madara was believed to have died. Instead, he went into hiding and passed his plans for peace on to Obito. His Eye of the Moon Plan would project the Infinite Tsukuyomi on the moon and trap Earth in a dream state. He believed this was the only way to achieve world peace.

1. Sasuke

As one of the only members of the Uchiha Clan to make it out alive during the events of Naruto, Sasuke earned the number one spot on this list. He is Naruto‘s deuteragonist as well as Naruto Uzumaki’s best friend and rival.

Sasuke was highly intelligent and learned the Great Fireball Technique in only one week. He came home to find his entire village murdered and Itachi standing over the bodies of their parents. Itachi used Tsukuyomi on Sasuke so he could see what he had done to his parents. After the deaths of his entire clan at the hands of his brother, Sasuke’s mission in life was to avenge his family by killing Itachi. After doing so, however, Sasuke learned the truth about what transpired and was able to forgive his brother.

After the war, Sasuke spent his life protecting the world without them ever knowing it was him.
