As we all hunker down for the nuclear winter, it’s become more important than ever to broadcast those crumbs of comfort that make life that little bit more bearable. Too dark? I’m doing my best. Today’s crumb comes from Captain America’s own Chris Evans, who like the model citizen that he is, has been in self-imposed quarantine. Isolation if you will. OK, so not quite isolation from everyone. He’s got company in the shape of this particular furry fellow:
It’s a grand We Got This Covered tradition. The much-loved, much-hyped, completely and uttely revered fan trailer. Look, someone's got to give it the big build-up. It just so happens that person is me. For your consideration today is a Black Adam fan trailer. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is currently pencilled in to star as the character in a planned DC movie, as well as a Shazam! Sequel, but for now we’re going to have to make do with our imaginations. Watch the trailer from YouTube’s Trailer Talks in the box above. Not a command, but given that’s what I’m here to promote, you’re encouraged to do so.
As we try and fail to keep calm and carry on, we can try our darndest to distract ourselves. Look over there, a Bill & Ted sequel! Ah, I’m distracted and comforted already. Bill & Ted Face the Music is (coronavirus notwithstanding) set to release on August 21st of this year. The movie will of course see the return of its eponymous screw-ups, but it’ll also see the return of a third familiar face. Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey introduced William Sadler’s take on Death. You know Death, the guy who walks around with a big stick, telling people when their time has come. Death (now specified as the Grim Reaper) is coming back for Face the Music, and Sadler is delighted about it. In a recent interview with NME, the actor described the thrill of returning to the franchise:
Everything is going to hell. As the Twitterami have duly noted, this Friday is Friday the 13th (gasp), and for the first time in recent memory, global circumstances are living up to the name. So, to lighten up the mood, we’ve hired a live-in clown to entertain you all. The clown can juggle, make balloon animals and frighten children from up to 7 miles away.
A new set photo from location filming for Stranger Things season 4 has confirmed the return of two popular characters - Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley.
In these times of fear and terror, it’s more important than ever to find things to smile about. That’s more general truth than article specific, but still, stay positive people. In relation to the fear and terror, here’s a new handshake suggestion from actress Octavia Spencer. Among Black Panther’s gifts to the world (they weren’t entirely cinematic) was the “Wakanda Forever” salute, an arms crossed symbol that became a symbol for the movie, and an internet meme. Given handshakes amidst the coronavirus outbreak are off the table, that leaves us lacking suitable greetings. So why not, as Spencer advocates in the Instagram post linked below, adopt Wakanda Forever for all hellos and goodbyes in the coming months? I’ve seen worse suggestions.
Though Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald underwhelmed at the box office, the desire for more Harry Potter flotsam at boardroom level apparently hasn’t waned. We understand that Warner Bros are developing a Lord Voldemort origins movie, one that'll focus on how he became the Wizarding World's Dark Lord. Now, this carries the usual disclaimer that just because we understand they are developing the movie doesn’t mean it’s going to make it to production. But ya know, keep your eyes on the horizon (or words to that effect).
