I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Finding a shotgun is always a great moment in a Resident Evil game. After plinking away at monsters with a base pistol (or, if you're a pro, the knife), getting your hands on a boomstick feels like you're evening the odds. This is particularly important in Resident Evil Village as those Lycans don't mess around. Fortunately, there's a way to get hold of a free shotgun soon after you begin the story.
Mortal Kombat brought most of the series' iconic fighters to the big screen. The original game's characters were almost all present, delivering cool reimaginings of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kano, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Liu Kang, Reptile, Goro and Shang Tsung, though the absence of egotistical nut-punchin' movie star Johnny Cage was sorely felt. Furthermore, mixed in among these were a couple of fighters who even I didn't recognize.
There were plenty of naysayers about Zack Snyder's Justice League. Since the campaign started, you've had those who claimed the Snyder Cut wouldn't be that different from the theatrical one, that it was a waste of money, that it'd be a huge flop, and, bizarrely, that it didn't even exist at all. All these doomsayers were proved categorically wrong in March, though, when the Snyder Cut released to great reviews, a very positive audience reception and healthy viewing figures on HBO Max.
The Simpsons seems to be settling into its new position in Disney's colossal IP collection well. Every episode being available on Disney+ has apparently been a big draw for the service, with seasons 33 and 34 confirmed earlier this year. The iconic family also tipped a hat to its Disney stablemate Star Wars on May the 4th, releasing a short titled "Maggie in The Force Awakens from its Nap."
The Bad Batch premiered earlier this week and was a hit with fans, with many comparing it to a Star Wars take on an Expendables-style action movie. The feature-length debut episode demonstrated why the titular squad is a force to be reckoned with and teased intriguing plot lines to come. Fans of The Clone Wars were particularly pleased that - as our review noted - The Bad Batch is essentially a new season of that show under different branding.
Justice League was originally intended to be just a single chapter in an epic superhero saga. Zack Snyder’s original plan was to launch the DCEU with Man of Steel, establish other heroes in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, bring them together in Justice League, and then have them face off against the Apokalyptian God of all Evil, Darkseid as he invaded Earth in the sequels.
The Mandalorian‘s second season was one of the best Star Wars stories in years. After a fun series of adventures in some of the grimier areas of the galaxy, the characters gathered to rescue the newly christened Grogu from Moff Gideon's ship.
