The other kind is heavy serialization. We saw the beginnings of this in Deep Space Nine, but Discovery plunged headfirst into season-long arcs that had many missing the classic style.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Will Reportedly Feature Wookiee Characters
The Mandalorian‘s second arc ended with a bang. After a daring rescue mission to retrieve Grogu from Moff Gideon’s evil clutches, the gang were cornered on the ship’s bridge by a squad of killer robot Death Troopers. It looked like the end was nigh until a single X-Wing arrived and a hooded figure emerged. As he carved his way through the droids with a familiar green lightsaber, fans became increasingly excited as it turned out that this was indeed Luke Skywalker coming to save the day.

Death Note 2 Will Reportedly Be More Horror Than The First Movie
Netflix’s 2017 live-action take on Death Note has a terrible reputation. Fans of the manga and anime resented the story being Americanized, character motivations and arcs being altered, and the subtle changes to the cosmology of the universe. Despite all that, the film did very well very casual audiences and producer Ted Sarandos later confirmed that Netflix considered it a “sizeable” success.

After an absence of nearly 15 years, Christopher Eccleston is finally returning to Doctor Who. The Ninth Doctor was praised for his performance, though left the show after just one season due to conflicts with the production staff. Of course, the nature of the character meant it was easy to regenerate him into David Tennant, but unlike other Doctors, he's never reprised the role and was particularly missed in the 50th anniversary spectacular.
