1995's Jumanji is widely regarded as a classic family adventure movie. On its original release, it was one of the highest-grossing films of the year and went on to spawn a cartoon show, a semi-sequel in Zathura: A Space Adventure and the recent Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level. And ever since the tragic death of star Robin Williams in 2014, its stature has risen even more, with those that grew up with the pic introducing both it and the actor to their own children.
The Mandalorian is a massive hit and went a long way towards making Disney+ a success in its first year. The second season just wrapped with the bombshell appearance of a digitally de-aged Luke Skywalker and the announcement of several spinoffs, including Rangers of the New Republic, Ahsoka Tano and The Book of Boba Fett have fans pretty hyped. The third run of the show is also in the pipeline, presumably dealing with the fallout of Din Djarin possessing the Darksaber.
The Mandalorian's second season finale went down with a bang, as none other than Luke Skywalker turned up to save the day. The reappearance of Mark Hamill as a de-aged Luke set the internet on fire and was by far the main talking point of the episode. However, fans that stuck around after the credits were also treated to an amazing scene that took us back to an iconic Return of the Jedi location and planted the seeds for Boba Fett's solo show.
It's a sad irony that Boba Fett actor Jeremy Bulloch died mere hours before the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian. Bulloch was under the helmet and armor in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, his performance helping make the bounty hunter one of the most interesting and enigmatic characters in Star Wars. The impact of his Boba Fett is keenly felt in the smash hit Disney+ show, too, with Temuera Morrison taking over the role to amazing effect and set to continue it in a dedicated spinoff.
Netflix's The Umbrella Academy is one of the biggest original shows on the streaming site. The two seasons currently available have been huge hits and quickly assembled a committed fanbase. A third run is expected to shoot in early 2021, targeting a release either later that year or in 2022, and now we're hearing that the company might try to fit in a spinoff series as well.
Earlier this year, there was a flurry of news about Ace Ventura 3. Word was that Morgan Creek Productions were just waiting for Jim Carrey to sign off on the project to begin pre-production. Since then, though, we've heard nothing. That may be down to the unexpected success of Sonic the Hedgehog, which has led to talk of sequels and spinoffs, and, of course, COVID-19, which threw a million monkey wrenches into the global movie machinery. But once again, there's some light on the horizon.
Those crazy bastards actually did it. The Mandalorian's season 2 finale has only been out for not even a full day and the internet is already going absolutely insane at who showed up in it. Obviously, it goes without saying that spoilers will follow, but we're assuming you've already seen the episode if you're reading this.
