Whenever any movie featuring the Caped Crusader enters production, it's only natural that moviegoers ask which villain(s) will be featured because he boasts what is arguably the best rogues gallery in all of comics. As such, the same questions are circling the long-gestating picture currently referred to as The Batman.
As Gotham rolls on, so, too, does Bruce Wayne inch ever closer to his destiny of becoming Batman. And while I'm currently having a hard time choosing which season is my favorite to date, viewing the most recent offering for a second time may very well seal the deal.
Once 2017’s glimpse into the humble lives of Derry’s residents proved to be a box office juggernaut, it only made sense that studios scramble to get the next adaptation of a story penned by Stephen King up on the big screen, chief among which will be IT: Chapter Two. After all, why not keep that ball rolling with the omniscient clown that started the current craze?
In addition to giving Juggernaut his own slice of silver screen redemption, Fox did likewise with Colossus in both Deadpool movies. Admittedly, I didn't hate what we'd been witness to in prior films, but the metallic mutant seen recently is much more in line with the guy I grew up reading about in the comics.
Despite being someone who isn't always keen on material that's self-aware and/or breaks the fourth wall, I must say that I loved Deadpool 2 - but that's largely due to the result of landing the right filmmakers, writers and actors for the project. In other words, this is what it looks like when a team finds the right formula.
Being a lifelong lover of horror, I’ve naturally indulged in the genre outside of movies and literature. To be honest, the video game medium might be my favorite to explore this avenue just because of how immersive it is and how it transports you to a different world like no other.
Remember when news broke last summer regarding massive reshoots on Justice League, thus leading hardcore fanboys to say it was nonsense concocted by those of us in the evil media? Then, when the movie actually arrived in theaters, it became apparent to all that material filmed by Joss Whedon accounted for more of the final product than anyone imagined, causing those same naysayers to demand Zack Snyder's cut see the light of day.
By now, I'm sure that all of you know of three subjects we are never to discuss at the dinner table: Religion, politics and Olicity. I say that because the third one, as we're well aware, is quite likely the most divisive topic amongst Arrow fans. No joke, nobody - not even me - is immune to the wrath of the diehard Felicity Smoak fan. Heck, you'll get called every name in the book if you aren't a "shipper."
Despite all of the humor and self-awareness that made up Deadpool 2, something I think we should all respect about it and the prior film is that not only did both finally bring fan favorite mutants such as Cable and Domino to the big screen, but they redeemed a few others as well. I mean, I didn't hate Colossus' prior portrayals, but what I saw in these most recent outings was much more comparable to what I'd grown used to on the printed page.
Despite there being a multitude of DC films involving Harley Quinn supposedly in development, one could say that Birds of Prey beat out the rest of the pack because it was the one that actually had backing from fan favorite actress Margot Robbie herself, who’d been pulling for an R-rated girl gang flick.
