As the much anticipated release of Suicide Squad continues to approach, Entertainment Weekly has once again spoiled us with new images, this time in the form of concept art. Taken from their July 22 Comic-Con issue, these two pieces of artwork offer a somewhat different look at the enormously popular Harley Quinn.
With less than three months until the premiere of its third season and San Diego Comic-Con happening next weekend, The CW has opted to give us our first real taste of what's to come on The Flash. Thanks to two new promo images, we now know what Keiynan Lonsdale will look like when his version of Wally West becomes the beloved hero, Kid Flash.
With less than a month until the theatrical release of Suicide Squad, promotion for the the film is really kicking into high gear. TV spots are gracing the airwaves, toys are now making their way into stores, and Hot Topic continues to be flooded with all things Harley Quinn.
Although many of us appreciate mature animated films featuring The Dark Knight such as the recently released Batman: Bad Blood or the upcoming R-rated Batman: The Killing Joke, we must be honest in saying that the character resonates with people of all ages and, therefore, movies appealing to the younger crowd are much needed. On September 13, Batman Unlimited: Mech vs. Mutants aims to fill that void when it arrives on DVD. As of now, no Blu-Ray release date has been given, but we will keep you posted.
It's probably safe to say that I wasn't the only one impressed by Kevin Smith's first time directing superheroes on TV after viewing the episode of The Flash that he helmed. It's already public knowledge that he'll make his return to Central City this fall, but if the stars properly align, we may be fortunate enough to see him bring his talents to Arrow as well.
When we think of Batman's corner of the DC Universe and the many supporting characters who inhabit it, it's impossible to not have Commissioner Jim Gordon spring to mind. Not only has he been a part of nearly live action and animated Batman offering on film, the stalwart cop has been around as long as Batman himself, first appearing in 1939's Detective Comics #27. So it is only fitting that a new actor, in this case the talented J.K. Simmons, carry the torch in the latest continuity of films, with his first appearance being in Justice League.
The eleventh season of Supernatural shook the series to its core as it saw the return of characters such as Lucifer and Chuck/God, along with the introduction of Amara, who turned out to be the latter's sister. With many loose ends that were on the minds of fans everywhere for years having been tied up, many of us are left wondering where the show can possibly go next.
Aside from getting the chance to see Harley Quinn for the first time on the big screen, one of the many cool things about Suicide Squad is that it will also do the same for characters such as Katana. Heroes and villains who were previously known only to more die hard fans now have the chance to reach a broader audience and showcase the true depth of the DC Universe.
With the first three Lethal Weapon movies and the cult favorite animated series Captain Planet long behind us, some may feel as though media has been sorely lacking in positive male role models with mullets. Well, if director Zack Snyder decides to aesthetically honor source material, which he tends to do, we may see Superman go the "business in the front, party in the back" route when he makes his return in Justice League.
