As much as I loved Avengers: Endgame, I must confess something: I enjoyed the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home more than anything hyping Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ latest cinematic outing. Now, that doesn’t mean the wall-crawler’s next solo adventure will wind up being better, but that tells you I still have great confidence in it.
When it comes to video game adaptations, I think you'll agree with me in saying that Hollywood misses the mark more often than not. For the most part, you'd think the filmmakers look at the pictures in strategy guides and don't do much research beyond that.
If you've lapsed on The Flash, then you sure have been missing out. Though it's fair to assume that some viewers may have been put off by season 4 taking a sharp comedic turn, the balance we'd come to love from previous offerings returned this year. In fact, I'd say this past season has produced the most enjoyable adventures since the show's sophomore run.
When I originally saw Avengers: Endgame in theaters, it didn't occur to me that "Fat Thor" would catch on in the way it did. Though I remain indifferent about the character being taken in that direction, I must concede that it's afforded True Believers the opportunity to assemble a much more affordable cosplay than in previous instances.
When Avengers: Endgame made its box office debut, it most certainly stormed out of the gate. After all, it's not every day that you see a movie rake in $1.2 billion worldwide over the course of its first weekend. With impressive figures like that, we all expected for it to usurp Avatar in short order.
Even as a diehard DC fan, I must confess that I was somewhat surprised when I first learned that Swamp Thing would be among the first shows to premiere on the DC Universe streaming service. After all, this character has mostly been a cult favorite for much of his publishing history, though a surge in pop culture notoriety did occur back in the early 1990's.
Now that the Shazam! movie has come and gone, I can't be the only DC fan who's sitting around waiting for the supposed Black Adam solo flick. Granted, I'm not entirely sure that Teth-Adam warrants a film of his own, but we've long been promised that each character's story would be told separately at first. Heck, Dwayne Johnson was cast all the way back in 2014!
Even though there are some pretty vocal naysayers out there, I'd have to say the upcoming Batwoman TV show is shaping up to be something special. Not only is Kate Kane a fine addition to the Arrowverse in her own right, but she's bringing more heroes and villains along with her. For example, Luke Fox starts out looking like a harmless tech genius, but comic book readers know he'll one day blossom into Batwing.
When it comes to a character like Booster Gold, I'm actually quite surprised that he's been considered for receiving a movie of his own. Then again, many superheroes who've raked in considerable dough in recent years were virtually unknown to the mainstream before being granted headlining gigs. That said, there is potential for this time traveling showoff to catch on with audiences.
After years of being away from cinemas, the Halloween franchise returned and absolutely conquered with its latest installment in 2018. Having firmly established itself as the highest grossing slasher flick of all-time, one would think a sequel won't be far behind. Still, it appears as though Blumhouse may have to jump through some hoops before that can happen.
