A Tribute To Roger Ebert From A Lifelong Disciple
Roger Ebert was a man I always wanted to meet. Not necessarily to pick his brain about movies – his body of work, all of it easily accessible online, said enough – or politics – he was one of America’s best and most underrated political writers – but to simply say “thank you,” and let him know, face to face, what his work meant to me, my writing, and my life. For without ever literally conversing with him, Roger Ebert was a major, essential influence to me, a hero and a mentor for whom I had nearly limitless respect and admiration, someone I not only looked up to, but whose spirit I have tried to emulate throughout my critical career.

Dead Man Down Review
Silly title aside, Niels Arden Oplev’s Dead Man Down is a surprisingly satisfying slow-burn revenge thriller, one that manages – albeit not without occasionally difficulties – to weave intelligence, emotion, and genuine moral awareness among its complex narrative web. Vengeance has, of course, been explored on film from just about every possible angle, and while Dead Man Down in no way reinvents the wheel, it is a thoughtfully and meticulously written piece about what happens when revenge is taken to the Nth degree. The film is interested in illustrating the natural, disturbing outcome of ‘eye-for-an-eye’ philosophy, examining the ways in which vengeance consumes as an all-encompassing, inescapable force, and for the most part, it does this very well.

WGTC Radio #34 – PlayStation 4 Announcement Analysis and Discussion
Last week, Sony set the Internet ablaze by announcing the Playstation 4 – and in the process gave us all way more information that we could have ever anticipated. Historically, console announcements have been limited to basic specs, release windows, etc., but Sony went above and beyond, giving us a detailed look at the technical design, a complete reveal of the controller, nine different game demos and presentations, a peek at the user interface, and all sorts of discussions about their vision for the upcoming console.
